‘Won’t Even Say Ken Paxton’s Name’: Estranged Wife Angela Paxton’s Texas Ad Sparks Backlash Over Her Silence

She skipped that part.

Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton appears in a new television ad urging voters to back “the Republican ticket” on November 3, without mentioning her estranged husband, Attorney General Ken Paxton, by name. The spot, paid for by a Texas PAC and not authorized by any candidate, frames the Senate race as a choice between holding Republican seats and handing them to the other side. Online users reacted after noticing that the ad never says Ken Paxton’s name.

#TXPol: "I'm Texas Senator Angela Paxton. People have asked my thoughts about this election and turns out, I have some … I'm voting for the Republican ticket on November 3rd."

In the ad, Angela Paxton speaks straight to the camera. “Let’s talk about the elephant in the room,” she says. “In a general election, it’s not as much about the individual players on the team. It’s about getting the whole team across the finish line.”

She closes with, “Either we hold every Republican seat, or we hand the future of Texas to the other team. That’s why I’m voting for the Republican ticket on Nov. 3. Let’s hold the line together.” She does not say Ken Paxton’s name. On screen, the ad reads “Vote Republican November 3rd.”

The disclaimer says the spot was paid for by Texas PAC and not authorized by any candidate or campaign. The Texas Tribune reported that the group, tied to Senate GOP leadership, has spent more than $126 million on ads boosting Ken Paxton’s Senate bid against Democrat James Talarico, and that public polling shows Talarico with a narrow lead within the margin of error.

Angela Paxton filed for divorce in 2025 on what she called “biblical grounds,” accusing him of adultery. The same “elephant in the room” line was the title of a September speech she gave to Republican women in Round Rock. Attendees told the Tribune she did not name him there either.

Responses to Angela Paxton’s Texas Ad

Some viewers focused on the name she left out. “She can’t even bring herself to say the name of the candidate she’s ostensibly supporting,” one user wrote. “Did they think people wouldn’t notice?”

Another called the ad “desperate,” and a third wrote, “So party over country. And party over biblical grounds, too.”

Others read it as a party argument, not a personal one. “Good for her, putting Texas and America first,” one commenter said.

Another wrote that she was saying that even though Ken Paxton was unfaithful, “he is still a better man for Texas,” adding, “She would KNOW.”

A separate user said appealing to partisanship is “one of the few cards Paxton has left to play.”

Coverage outside X was more descriptive than critical. The Washington Times reported that she is urging voters to support the GOP ticket despite her differences with her husband. After her earlier Round Rock speech, a Republican organizer wrote that Paxton “NEVER mentioned his name — not even once, but encouraged the women to vote for EVERYONE on ‘OUR R TEAM!’”
