While many triple Trump voters have aired out their regrets on social media, mostly due to their vote’s economic impact on them, one doctor from New York has pointed out some ideological reasons. Because for the New York Doctor, the Republican Party is now facing a dire issue as he thinks its current representative, namely the Trump administration, is heading into full-fledged Nazism.
This sentiment was specifically expressed by Avi Bitterman, a dermatologist from Woodmere, New York. On November 10, Bitterman took to X/Twitter to bring out his grievances with the current US administration, stating that while he voted for Trump, he’s now likely regretting it and even implied that Trump and his supporters or closest allies are akin to Nazis. Everyone should thus supposedly set aside their differences to prevent further Nazism from creeping into the US government.
As Bitterman stated, “Ultimately it’s better for America that the Republican party is not represented by literal Hitler loving Nazis and regardless of the past we should do what we can to stop that from happening.”
The doctor’s tweet has since gone viral, with hundreds of comments and more than half a million views, but many of the commenters aren’t exactly sympathizing with him. Some of the most well-liked comments on Bitterman’s thread allude to how the voters are now reaping what they sowed, “No, go [expletive] yourself. Enjoy the nazis you put in power.”
Because of the overwhelming negative response, Bitterman had to mute the thread’s comments and replies, which sadly cut the discussion off. According to Bitterman, “Too many [expletive] looking for emotional release and I need to focus my efforts on the enemy. Fight them on your own, fight them with me, or don’t fight them at all. At the bare minimum just don’t stand in my way or help them.”
People online have doubled down on criticizing the doctor
Now, despite Bitterman’s rather heated response to the people who were criticizing him for allowing what he now fears to take power in the first place, many people on other social media were keen on keeping his discussion alive. It appears they’re not letting Bitterman off lightly, with many questioning just how exactly he expects non-Trump voters to help him fix the situation he caused, so to speak.
“Wtf does he expect Liberals to do now? Lol Trump is the president for the next 3 years,” asks a Reddit user, with another replying, “Also, what are we supposed to do to fix the Republican party?” Others have resigned to denying help or sympathy, “‘We’? Your party, your problem. I can’t vote in your primaries, my guy.”
Granted, Bitterman is not the first or the only Trump voter to express regret, but asking for a call to action against Nazis (and even recognizing the administration’s supposed trajectory) is likely a first among Trump voters. Sadly, it might take a while before other Republicans and Trump voters see eye to eye with Bitterman.
