A Wyoming photographer’s sunrise session at Mormon Row in Jackson Hole turned into a heated confrontation after a large group of photographers gathered around the famous barn. The photographer, who lives about three hours from Jackson Hole, had left home at 3:30 a.m. for a 7 a.m. client session. The encounter later spread across TikTok, drawing more than five million views and plenty of debate over who gets to claim a popular photo spot.
The story was shared on TikTok by photographer meggs_hehe after another woman called her out on social media. “Don’t let people walk all over you! Stand up for yourself!” the photographer said in the description. The video quickly took off, with viewers following the photographer’s account of what happened and weighing in on the confrontation.
When the photographer arrived at Mormon Row, a long line of photographers was already waiting. It was her first time shooting a sunrise session at the location, and she said she was surprised by how crowded it was. More photographers continued arriving, while some visitors reportedly left after encountering the group gathered around the barn.
The dispute centered on access to the area around the barn. According to the photographer, people trying to approach it were told to stay back, including visitors who were still near the tree line. She eventually decided to move forward because her clients had paid for a sunrise session.
By about 7:15 or 7:20 a.m., the sun had already risen, but the disagreement continued. The photographer said people were yelling at her, calling her names and booing her. She also said she was 23 weeks pregnant and was trying hard not to lose her temper.
She eventually confronted the group, arguing that they did not own or rent the barn and therefore could not decide who was allowed to photograph there. Some photographers had already packed up after getting their shots, while other visitors were still waiting. One man eventually encouraged her group to take their photos.
The Wyoming photographer said her clients also needed to catch a flight later that day, adding to her frustration over the delay. Her broader point was that photographers should make room for one another at a popular location instead of blocking access for everyone else.
