Lovebirds Mystique and Destiny are getting ready to say “I do” in Marvel’s X-Men: The Wedding Special #1. In preparation of the big event, Marvel is giving fans a look at some never-before-seen artwork from the special. This art comes from acclaimed artist Rachel Stott who joins Kieron Gillen for this next chapter in the mutant’s lives. The issue is also part of the publisher’s Pride Month celebrations. It will feature other stories that highlight Marvel’s LGBTQIA+ characters and creators.

X-Men: The Wedding Special brings Raven Darkholme (Mystique) and Irene Adler (Destiny) together for the wedding of the year. While the issue will center around this highly anticipated wedding, there is more in store. Readers will get a deeper look at the duo’s century long romance. Plus, the comic will show the lovers original wedding and see why they chose to host a brand-new one. It will be multiple stories that are all hinged around this extravagant wedding.

This is the first time that Marvel has shown a first all-female wedding. The official synopsis shares that Mystique and Destiny have been steering the fate of mutant-kind for decades. The Krakoan Age saw the resurrection of Destiny, and since the two reunited, their love has been unstoppable. Now, before Krakoa ends, everyone is celebrating these two by witnessing the wedding of a century. The newly released artwork shows off the shenanigans that will ensue in this special.

Other Adventures

While this upcoming issue is a wedding special, it features more than just the event. Writer Tini Howard and artist Phillip Sevy come together to tell a Betsy Braddock and Rachel Summers story. The duo will take on the OMniversal Majestrix, Opal Luna Satunyne. Then, writer Tate Bombal and artist Emilio Pilliu tell a brand-new Wolverine adventure. The story will feature Wolverine tasking Anole, Pixie, Indra, and Bling with a big job. They must find the perfect wedding gift for Mystique.

Meanwhile, newcomers Wyatt Kennedy and Jenn St. Onge are taking on another fan-favorite couple, Rogue and Gambit. Finally, Yoon Ha Lee and Stephen Byrne offer some pre-marriage counseling via Emma Frost for the soon-to-be-betrothed.

X-Men: The Wedding Special #1 is out on 05/29.
