Marvel has revealed that the X-Men’s Krakoan Age is set to end next year with three miniseries. The previously announced Fall of the House of X, Rise of the Powers of X, and Resurrection of Magneto officially ushers out this Age of X-Men. What began in 2019 with Jonathan Hickman’s House of X and Powers of X will soon be replaced with a brand-new era. All of this was revealed during Marvel’s “Next Big Thing” NYCC panel, with more details promised for November.

The current era of the X-Men referred to as the Krakoan Age, emerged out of Jonathan Hickman’s overhaul of the series. It featured a world where the X-Men and all mutants resided on the sentient island of Krakoa. Here, the mutants unlocked the secrets to immortality through resurrection and spread their reach beyond Earth to the stars. It seemed that the Krakoan Age was here to last.

However, the recent Hellfire Gala has revealed an onslaught of attacks against mutant-kind that has left many dead, missing, or scattered throughout the world. As the anti-mutant group known as Orchis continues to target mutants, it looks like the peace of the Krakoan Age is about to become extinct. But what will the future look like, and will they survive to see it?

Ending With A Bang, Or Three

Announced during NYCC, Marvel is ending the X-men’s Krakoan Age with three final miniseries. The first is Fall of the House of X, which comes from writer Gerry Duggan alongside artist Lucas Werneck. A series synopsis states that Cyclops is facing the death penalty after being put on trial. Meanwhile, the rest of the mutant kind prepare to take a final stand against Orchis.

Next up is Rise of the Powers of X from writer Kieron Gillen and artist R.B. Silva. This new series takes place in a future where Orchis was able to defeat mutants. However, Nimrod and Omega Sentinel are still fighting with some big plans up their sleeves.

Finally, Al Ewing and Luciano Vecchio team up for Resurrection of Magneto. This focuses on Storm and her struggle to leave Magneto dead, per his dying wish, or resurrect him to help save the mutants. If she brings him back, how will he react to the current state of the world?

It all kicks off in January.
