Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller this summer at E3. The overall reception is positive as players have already pre-ordered an entire shipment‘s worth of controllers. The Elite Wireless Controller is expected to hit shelves on October 27th, in the United States. Shoppers should expect the demand to be quite high for Microsoft’s new addition to their controller family, especially this holiday season.
Microsoft’s official description of the controller is:
“Get pro-level precision with the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller, featuring an arsenal of swappable components, Hair Trigger Locks, and limitless customization. Choose from a variety of thumbsticks, D-pads, and paddles for a tailored feel that provides game-changing accuracy and speed.”
The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller will offer custom button mapping capabilities for some of your favorite games. According to Microsoft, the controller will come preloaded with “Elite Mappings” for their biggest titles. Be on the look out for the pre-shipped elite mappings for powerhouse games like Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6 and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Microsoft promises other mappings for additional titles coming soon. We’re looking at you Star Wars Battlefront.

Microsoft put out a statement this morning with additional details.
“The best way for you to ensure that you’ll get the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller soon is to pre-order yours from your favorite gaming retailer.”
GameStop has the controller listed on its’ website for pre-order, check it out now. Microsoft is, also, offering the Xbox One Elite Bundle. It will include the new Xbox Elite Wireless Controller as well as 1TB of additional storage for your game library. The controller offers six thumbsticks, paddles and four directional pads. Add-ons, created by Microsoft in partnership with Scuf Gaming, will be available soon. In the meantime, players can look forward to a limited sale of Halo 5 component kits for $29.99.
