Xbox Games With Gold for April has been announced to those who pay for the system’s online service. Microsoft releases three to four notable titles from the past for free every month for subscribers to download. This month, the titles are as follows:

  • The Technomancer: Available April 1 to 30 on Xbox One
  • Outcast: Second Contact: Available April 16 to May 15 on Xbox One
  • Star Wars Battlefront II: Available April 1 to 15 on Xbox One and Xbox 360
  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2: Available April 16 to 30 on Xbox One and Xbox 360

The video above gives a nice recap of what players will get this month, as well as, letting everyone know that the total value of the offerings is $109.96 ERP. They aren’t the greatest games ever released, but it’s the free part if it that makes everything better.

Games With Gold seems to have a reoccurring theme in the last few months. Star Wars has consistently popped up and next month appears to be no different. Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy was offered in February, as well as Star Wars Republic Commando in March.

Sony too has its free game giveaway every month for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The two gaming titans must continue to find ways of luring in new players, and offering free games is certainly a good way to do it. The issue with all of these free titles tends to be quality. Subscribers are usually treated to more mediocre and subpar offerings than they are standout titles.

It will be interesting to see how much longer Microsoft can entice gamers to their online service with free games. Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s subscription-based gaming service, is increasing at an exponential rate. As more and more games are being added to the service, it will start to make Games With Gold a little redundant.

Are you excited to try or even revisit some of this month’s Games With Gold titles? Let us know in the comments below!
