There are no pilotable robots in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any in the game period. The Artifice known as Siren strikes with deadly power from on high, and now it can do… not that on your shelf. Kotobukiya has revealed a model kit for the awesome Siren which is open for pre-order on good old Play Asia or on Amiami. They’d like your order placed before August 13 to ensure availability – the order page specifies that they can’t guarantee stock later than that.
The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Siren is fully posable, stands at 30 cm (that’s just barely under a foot), and runs $108. That eclipses the price of some statues of that size, plus this is a model kit, so buyers will have to assemble the figure themselves. It also comes with a base stand and a support arm to allow the figure to hover majestically. Or imposingly. Or both.
Some decoration might also be required, which isn’t unusual for these types of model kits. According to the Amiami order page, most of Siren’s parts use the mold coloring. It also states that the face is pre-painted and that the kit comes with decals to stick on. The fathers and wings are painted on PET resin.
In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, skells – I mean Artifices – are giant human-shaped mechs created for use by Aegises. SPOILER: Pyra/Mythra is an Aegis, and Siren is her Artifice. END SPOILER. Most Artifices in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are enemies, but Siren waits high above for the player’s order to fire, then makes it rain on the desired spot. Not as good as piloting one yourself, but no one can deny how epic it is to have this thing at your beck and call.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available for Nintendo Switch and is the defining (not to mention one of the few) RPGs on the console.
