Cult classic FPS XIII is now a mere month away, following earlier delays. With anticipation building, the newest XIII trailer has released. Immediately striking is how great the game looks! Cel shading has always been easy on the eye, and it does wonders to fix up some of the rough early-2000’s graphics here. The trailer, titled “Good Old Weapons”, gives a rundown of the guns available, whilst showing off the stylish action. Several tongue in cheek moments show off the game’s cheeky sense of humor. It’s also interesting to note that this is a full remake, rather than a remaster. Built to today’s standards, hopes are high for this one! Check out the trailer below.

XIII Trailer Shows More Than Just Nostalgia

The 2003 shooter was beloved by gamers but arguably didn’t get the attention it deserved due to poor sales. However, over the years, the game built up a sizeable following, and demands for a remake grew. With a laundry of other games getting the remake treatment, fan’s desires were finally met. It feels like the perfect time for it too. With irreverent cel-shaded shooters such as Borderlands and Fortnite all the rage, there’s an audience hungering for more. Given how niche this launch was back in 2003 however, it’s interesting to see if the XIII trailer will appeal to modern shooter fans.

While XIII was not without its flaws back in 2003, I very much consider myself a fan. The game may not have hit every note, but it was genuinely original and dared to try something new. Like many others, it stuck with me for a long time after. I will keenly be awaiting its launch a month from now. What do you think though? Are you already a fan eagerly awaiting XIII? Or did you miss it back in 2003, and are considering trying it out? Let me know in the comments below!
