The recent Kombat Kast on Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns detailed the different parts of this DLC, including a game mode that is “not warrior shrine.” Thanks to the kind Master Boon, players can now play the DLC characters for free in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns in the Towers of Time game mode, but there’s a catch.
Posted by Ed Boon on X, the creator of Mortal Kombat has addressed a very particular part of the recent Khaos Reigns DLC trailer. The image on the post shows the Towers of Time, making their return from MK11 to MK1. However this time, there’s more to this game mode than what it used to be in the previous game, and clearly it’s not the Mortal Kombat 1 Warrior Shrine.
As discussed in the Kombat Kast for the Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns DLC, there are a total of 9 towers that are always available to players in the Towers of Time game mode. The first three are the Arcade, which is the normal one, Seasonal, which grants you the seasonal prizes and is replacing the Gateway Mesa, and the third, the Legacy Tower, which rewards you with the unobtainable pallets from the previous seasons of the Invasions mode.
The other six in the middle row are the timely towers that change every hour and range from very easy to very hard from left to right. Now comes the interesting part about the bonus towers sitting on the back row. These are the DLC characters and extra live event content that becomes available for players to use for free in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns.
The way it works is that you’ll have a tower dedicated to one of the DLC characters, say, Noob Saibot, for example. You can play Noob Saibot on his tower for a limited amount of fights, and once you’re done, the tower becomes inaccessible. This feature is available for players who have not purchased the Kombat Pack 2, and you’ll also get rewarded with free items for completing these trial towers.
