On top of accusations involving alleged pedophiles, Paxton was also accused of cheating on his wife, leading to outrage from both his critics and supporters.
Paxton, Texas’ current attorney general and Republican nominee for the Senate, was speaking to supporters on September 19 when a heckler reportedly shouted accusations about his handling of the case involving Adam Hoffman. Video of the confrontation circulated online, showing the protester accusing Paxton of allowing Hoffman to remain free.
The protester reportedly referenced the alleged victim’s age, saying, “He was a 7-year-old boy. Adam Hoffman is free because of you.” The angry heckler then added, “You protected a pedophile!” The confrontation comes as Paxton faces increasing attacks from Democratic nominee James Talarico over the Hoffman case and his broader record on abuse allegations.
Due to the nature of the accusation, it appears Paxton’s supporters were compelled to chant “USA! USA!” repeatedly in what many viewers online assumed was an attempt to drown out the criticisms. Meanwhile, the criticism also didn’t stop at Paxton’s involvement with the Adam Hoffman case, as Paxton was called out for cheating on his wife in another instance of viral heckling at the very same rally.
