Texas Baker Ghosts Mom Cake Scam

A Texas mom has taken to TikTok to call out a San Antonio baker who allegedly took her money for two birthday cakes but failed to deliver them or offer an explanation. The mother, identified as Karla, said the cakes were meant for her two daughters, who were celebrating their birthdays this month. She shared her frustrating experience in a now-viral video, which has drawn both sympathy for her family and outrage toward the baker from netizens.

According to Karla, she came across the baker, identified as Kass, on TikTok in early September. Kass had been advertising a promotion offering custom six-inch cakes for $35 each, with customers choosing their preferred themes while leaving the creative details to her.

The offer caught Karla’s attention because she was planning a joint birthday party for her two daughters, who had recently turned 13 and 10. Their birthdays were only five days apart, and although the family usually celebrated them together, the girls had specifically requested separate birthday cakes this year.

Karla said she looked through Kass’s previous work and saw positive reviews from customers who praised her cakes. Since the baker was also located in San Antonio, where she lives, she decided to place an order for two cakes to be picked up on October 17.

Everything initially appeared to be going smoothly. Kass reportedly accepted the order, received payment in advance, and even provided an address where Karla could collect the cakes. However, things took a turn when Karla tried to contact the baker again in October to confirm the arrangements.

Texas Mom Struggles to Reach Baker Ahead of Birthday Party

Karla said she discovered that Kass’s TikTok account was no longer available. She didn’t know whether the baker had deleted her account or had been removed from the platform, so she created a Facebook account to reach her.

When that attempt went unanswered, she contacted Kass’s father, who had previously promoted his daughter’s baking business on Facebook. Karla said the man was helpful and provided his daughter’s phone number.

She eventually managed to reach Kass, and it seemed like everything was back on track. But as the birthday celebration approached, the baker allegedly stopped responding to her calls and messages again.

Even Kass’s father, whom Karla contacted once more, reportedly expressed surprise at his daughter’s lack of communication and agreed that ignoring a paying customer was “unprofessional.”

Despite several attempts to confirm the pickup, Karla said she never heard back from Kass, and the cakes were not provided as promised.

What upset the mother most was not simply losing the money but knowing how much her daughters had been looking forward to having their own birthday cakes. She shared that her younger daughter has special needs and had been particularly excited about receiving a cake featuring a character she loved.

“You didn’t just steal something from me. You took something from my children,” Karla said, visibly upset by the situation. “They didn’t do nothing to you.”

The mother said she would have preferred it if the baker had simply informed her ahead of time that she could not fulfill the order and refunded her money. She closed her video by warning viewers against ordering from the business.

“Everybody, do not order from her. Do not order cakes from Kass because she’s just gonna take your money. She’s gonna scam you,” Karla claimed.

Netizens’ Reaction to Texas Mom’s Experience

A lot of people have reacted to the Texas mom’s TikTok post with outrage toward the baker. In the comments, one person said, “You try to help small businesses and they do stuff like this.” Another shared, “This is why it’s so hard for me to trust sellers on the Internet.”

A third wondered, “Like why yall advertise so hard if you’re going to ghost people on special occasions?? That’s so weird.” A fourth chimed in, “As a small business owner myself, this is truly heartbreaking and disgusting that people do this.”

One other comment read, “How can people be this inconsiderate and honestly evil to scam hardworking families… it’s so messed up and makes me so angry!!” Another viewer wrote, “This was so weird of her to do. People don’t have money like that to just be wasting. She will get her karma though don’t worry.”

Someone else suggested, “Take her to court to prove a point to her. She straight up stole your money and ruined your daughter’s bday. You have your proof!!”

Amid the criticism, some TikTok users also stepped forward with generous offers to help make things right for Karla’s daughters.

“I’m so sorry you went through this!! and I know its super late but I would love to gift you 2 cakes for your girls,” one TikToker offered. Another said, “I would love to make your girls a cake for free if you’re interested.”

The video has received over 300,000 views and continues to gain traction on TikTok. As of this writing, the Texas baker has not publicly addressed Karla’s allegations.
