A tense moment unfolded at a high school protest in California when a woman attempted to insert herself into the situation but was met with the loud and unified voices of students who refused to back down. A video posted on X captured the protest scene. “Are you involved in this protest at all?” The woman behind the camera asked a man, later identified as the principal, who stood leaning on a railing along the sidewalk.
“I’m sorry, do you teach here?” she asked again. The man responded, “I prefer not to engage.” “What’s your name?” she pressed, but he did not respond. She continued, pointing out that he was on the sidewalk while students were protesting. “Have these students notified their parents?” she questioned, wanting to know whether parents were aware their children were protesting during school hours. The man did not provide a direct answer.
“Stay on the side,” the man echoed to the students, instructing them to avoid stepping onto the road. The woman, however, continued repeating her questions, even asking whether school resources had been used to create protest materials. Meanwhile, the students stood firm with their placards raised, chanting loudly at her, “Your hate makes us stronger.”
When the adult on the ground refused to answer the woman, she turned to the high school students and asked whether they had permission from their parents to protest. “My dad gave me permission, and my mom okayed it,” one student fired back when questioned. The woman asked again, wanting to know his mother’s name, but instead the students continued chanting. When one of them moved toward her, she shouted,“Get away from me.”
The video caption provided additional context, identifying the event as an anti-ICE protest at Da Vinci High School. The woman claimed she was only trying to confirm that the kids had permission from their parents, which didn’t happen at her son’s school. However, the students weren’t pleased, so they retaliated. “My signs were stolen and ripped up by students. None of the teachers or staff would give me their names,” she slammed.
The comment section quickly filled with criticism of her actions and praise for the younger ones. One fan commented in support of the Davis, California, students, “Love this for the school! You didn’t get the reaction you wanted, and now you’re whining! Your hate makes them stronger!” A second added, “Proud of these kids. They can see the hate and evil in this woman and those like her… Keep using your voice, kids. Don’t let them silence you.”
“Professional White victim. Shoving your camera in someone’s face but crying when they push you away. Go home ma’am. They don’t need permission to exercise their First Amendment rights,” a third commenter wrote, while another added, “You people can not comprehend how much young people are sick of your [Expletive].”
One person described her behavior as inappropriate, writing, “Stalking kids near a school is creepy. You should be on a list.” Another similar remark read, “It’s INCREDIBLE!! You claim to be a patriot, yet you’re doing EVERYTHING you can to suppress the FREE SPEECH of children… 😂pathetic.”
Someone else added, “I mean, you do know they don’t have to tell you their name or profession, right? Protests are also part of the 1st amendment right.” More criticism followed, with one commenter writing, “Jobless woman asks people if they got a permission slip to practice their First Amendment rights.”
However, not all comments opposed the California principal’s actions. “Our school children should not be used as pawns to protest on behalf of adults. We are moving backwards,” one person slammed.
Another questioned the legality of the situation, stating, “How is it legal to take kids out of the building to protest in the streets? PUBLIC TRUST BROKEN.” “This has to be a lawsuit. This is also straight out of the Nazi playbook. Using kids for political agendas is disgraceful,” another commenter added, describing the protest as inappropriate.
