A shocking scene unfolded recently in a Texas car park, which saw a Hispanic pair directing racist insults at another Hispanic couple. What sparked the confrontation remains unclear, though it appears to have stemmed from a parking dispute. The situation nearly escalated into a physical altercation, though no one was reportedly injured. The footage is currently circulating online.
The video was originally shared to Instagram, and has since made its way to Reddit. In the footage, a couple can be seen yelling at a driver in a parking lot, who is recording the incident as it unfolds. “Are you calling me a [racial slur]? You [expletive] call me a [racial slur]?” the man asks the couple, as he’s sat in the driver’s seat. In the background, you can hear yelling from the man outside, and his female partner is holding her phone up and recording the driver.
“I can’t understand what the [expletive] you say?” yells the man outside, though it’s clear that the driver is speaking english. As the driver zooms in with his camera, a young child can be seen caught in the middle of the confrontation. After exchanging insults, the driver shouts, “You’re also Hispanic, bro. You’re also an immigrant, man.” though the man outside retorts, “I ain’t from [expletive] Mexico!“
Continuing on, the driver exclaims to the woman outside his window, “You dark as well. You also dark. You also dark. Look at you. You’re not even Black. You’re not even White.” To this, the woman fires back, “Who said I was White, [expletive]?” The woman then starts to target the other passenger in the vehicle, shouting, “You and that fat ass [expletive]! Ugly ass [expletive]!” The driver replies, “I’m a U.S. citizen, [expletive]!”
The woman outside then escalates the situation by threatening the lady in the passenger’s seat, and urges her to get out of the car, suggesting the confrontation may turn physical. “Get out! Get out!” she yells, though the footage ends abruptly.
As the clip continues to circulate online, social media users have weighed in with their reactions. On Reddit, one user wrote, “Friendly fire😭” while another person on Instagram, added, “Doing this in front of the kid is just sad man 😔” A third netizen declared, “So sad we all the same from God” while another chimed in with, “Man this aggravates me“.
While it’s unclear how the verbal altercation ended, it’s disheartening to witness such blatant racial abuse in public. Ultimately, such public displays of hate remind us how much work remains to combat racism.
