Zac Efron Expands His Portfolio With A24
The Iron Claw from A24 is one step for Zac Efron as he diversifies his career. He has had a long career that kicked off with High School Musical, but as the Disney star got older, he looked to expand his horizons with different roles, often going for more mature projects. In 2014, he co-starred with Seth Rogan in Neighbors and its sequel in 2016, adding Chloë Grace Moretz. He followed that up with another raunchy comedy with Baywatch with Dwayne Johnson.
A shift took place to do more serious work. He re-teamed up with Rogan for The Disaster Artist. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. The actor also co-starred with Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman. He got a lot of attention when he played serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. His Netflix series Down to Earth became a huge hit and won him a Daytime Emmy. Earlier this year, he starred in the Stephen King adaption Firestarter.
Looking ahead with A24 and more, Zac Efron has a stack of projects. He will be in The Greatest Beer Run Ever, the follow-up for Oscar-winner Peter Farrelly (Green Book). It will star Russell Crowe, Bill Murray, Kyle Allen (West Wide Story), and Jack Picking (Top Gun: Maverick). Efron will be cast in Three Men and a Baby. For Netflix, he is attached to a comedy project with Nicole Kidman.
