A new Black Label series, Zatanna: Bring Down the House, will take the titular sorceress on a wild ride. This new series is from Eisner winning writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Javier Rodriguez. It follows Zatanna as she goes on a grand adventure through Sin City. However, it is not all fun and card tricks for the DC character. Along the way, she will face off against a demon that will test Zatanna’s magical abilities to the limit.
Zatanna: Bring Down The House
According to DC, Zatanna: Bring Down the House finds the titular sorceress as the greatest entertainer in the worst hotel and casino off the Las Vegas strip. While the more glamorous hotels would love to book her as a headliner, a terrible instance of magic-gone-wrong has kept Zatanna from pursuing those routes. It was an accident that completely changed the course of Zatanna’s childhood. Now, she would much rather sport her trademark top hat and fishnets as a sleight-of-hand act than mess with real magic again.
However, that desire to stay away from real magic is about to be put to the test. The magician will find herself facing off against a terrifying demon. One that emerges from an interdimensional vortex on the stage Zatanna performs on. Now, she must take herself and her magical abilities more seriously or end up as the demon’s dinner. Of course, if she wants to survive, she must also face the even more terrifying consequences of her past.
The Magic Behind The Series
The creative team for Zatanna: Bring Down the House shared their experience tackling this Black Label entry.
