Like pretty much every year, 2023 is going to be big for games, mainly because most of the biggest games that were originally slated for 2022 were pushed back into 2023. One of the most anticipated games for 2023 is the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, called The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. And some leaks confirm that the upcoming Zelda game will have its own run of limited edition Nintendo Switch OLEDs.
Even though Tears of The Kingdom is still at least 5 months away, pictures of what looks like the limited edition Switch OLED have leaked via Reddit. The special edition console, which has not yet been announced officially, has a white dock with golden Zelda markings. The same goes for the joy-con, with similar etchings all over.
Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Limited Edition Switch Leaked
How someone managed to get images of the unannounced Switch so long before Tears of The Kingdom is a mystery. Whoever it is was playing Pokemon Scarlet & Violet in the leaked images. This means that even if he got the switch OLED, he doesn’t seem to have access to the game.
This is by no means a confirmation that Tears of the Kingdom will get its own limited edition OLED Switch, but the images do look pretty authentic. Unless someone went through a lot of trouble to make a fake one. Nintendo has launched a plethora of special edition Switch consoles alongside big releases. Splatoon 3 also got a limited edition switch, and since Tears of the Kingdom is probably the biggest Nintendo game to come out since Breath of the Wild, it isn’t too far-fetched to assume it will get a limited edition Switch model.
It seems that Tears of the Kingdom will make its May 2023 release date, not just because of the leaked special edition Switch, but also because it was rated in Korea and by the ESRB very recently. This means the game is pretty much ready to be in the hands of players. Whether or not this special edition Switch is real or not remains to be seen, but no matter how real it looks, it should be taken with a gracious grain of salt.
