Powering up Agents in Zenless Zone Zero isn’t exactly a quick process, but if you want a prompt boost of stats, you need to work with the Drive Disc system. Much of this is typical when it comes to HoYoverse titles if you’ve ever dived into Genshin Impact or Honkai Impact. With their latest title, you’ll need these Drive Discs to gain additional stats for your Agents and make them as ready as possible for any situation. It may take some grinding though since each character has six slots you can fill.
How Drive Discs Work in Zenless Zone Zero
As the core gear system in Zenless Zone Zero, most of your Agents’ gear stats come from Drive Discs. Each set comes with a 4-piece and 2-piece effect bonus, giving you breathing room to adapt your playstyle as you wish. As long as you equip a 4-piece set or a 2-piece set, you’ll receive a special effect to further boost the Agent.
There are also two types of stats: base stats and random stats. Your base stats are the primary stats for the Drive Discs. Meanwhile, the random stats are more like substats that you get by upgrading the Disc, or it can already be on the Disc when you get it.
Base Stats
The first three base stats have fixed main stats no matter what:
Disc Number | Effect |
---|---|
I | Flat HP |
II | Flat ATK |
III | Flat DEF |
Your 4th through 6th Drive Discs are where you can customize the playstyle for your Agent in Zenless Zone Zero. Below is just an example of what it could look like. Again: there’s flexibility here, so you can build your character however you like.
Disc Number | Effect | Effect (continued) |
---|---|---|
IV | HP% / Flat HP | CRIT DMG |
ATK% / Flat ATK | CRIT Rate | |
DEF% / Flat DE | Anomaly Proficiency | |
V | HP% / Flat HP | Anomaly Mastery |
ATK% / Flat ATK | CRIT Rate | |
DEF% / Flat DEF | Pen Ratio | |
VI | HP% / Flat HP | Energy Regeneration Rate |
ATK% / Flat ATK | Impact | |
DEF% / Flat DEF | Anomaly Mastery |
Random Stats
In Zenless Zone Zero, you can have up to four substats per Drive Disc piece. They’ll never be the same effect as the main stat on the Disc. Below are the possible effects you may get:
- HP% / Flat HP
- ATK% / Flat ATK
- DEF% / Flat DEF
- Anomaly Proficiency
- CRIT DMG
- CRIT Rate
- Impact
- PEN
How To Get Drive Discs
There aren’t too many ways you can get Drive Discs in Zenless Zone Zero. However, before you can, you must get Plating Agents as you’ll use them to get and upgrade Discs. Combat challenges like Rally Commissions are ideal places to earn more Plating Agents.
Now, you’re unable to get new Drive Discs with this method until you unlock the music store Bardic Needle. This will happen after Chapter 2. With it unlocked, you can tune or dismantle Drive Discs. It’s essentially like a gacha system. At the store, you’re automatically in the Tune tab. The ranks of the Drive Discs in Zenless Zone Zero depend on the level of the music store. So, the higher the store, the better the Discs.
At the Bardic Needle, you can also jump into the Training area. Go into Routine Cleanup and do the training exercises there. It’s a good way to farm more Drive Discs. Besides Training, another great farm area is the Driver Validation challenge.
And that’s everything you need to know to get started with the Drive Disc system in Zenless Zone Zero. It’s not the fastest process, but farming new ones and dismantling those you don’t need is a great way to improve your Agent. And we all want our Agents to perform at their best.
