The View host Sara Haines attempted to sabotage the reputation of New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani with some very targeted questions about Israel. Unfortunately, her plan backfired, making her a laughingstock among online fans. During the interview with the politician, Haines points out how Mamdani refers to Israel as an apartheid state but publicly denounces the actions of Hama. She questions why voters should trust him as mayor, given how big the Jewish population is in New York. Mamdani’s response puts the host in her place.
Speaking to The View, NYC mayoral candidate reiterates what he’s publicly stated before, then calls what’s happening in Gaza a genocide and a war crime. This reaction sparked applause from the on-set audience. Mamdani then continued, saying that neither Hamas nor Israel is in the right, but the actions of the Israeli government have definitely been far from morally right. Mamdani pointed out that his main focus is to ensure the people of New York City are safe and able to live in affordable housing, regardless of what side they are on.
“If a New Yorker disagrees with me about Israel, I’m still fighting for them to afford this city, be safe in this city, and see this city as their home,” Mamdani concluded. The View guest also made some remarks on Donald Trump, saying how he’s willing to fight the President if it involves an “overreach from a federal administration” in NYC. While many online users agree with and respect Mamdani for the way he responded to such an inflammatory question, many more criticized Sara Haines for trying to put the politician on the spot.
โZionistโ Sara Haines Slammed for Being Unapologetically โPro Genocide’
“This woman is pro genocide and on national TV,” said a Reddit user, referring to Sara Haines. Others chimed in, saying how she and other co-hosts of the show are shameless Zionists “who don’t view Palestinian people as people.” “The View is trash,” a second commenter remarked in disappointment. “Whatโs insane is that all these TV show hosts make undying support of Israel a point of discussion for the election of the MAYOR of New York City!” adds a third, pointing out how the mayor has little to no influence on policy outside of the US, let alone the city.
Hundreds more shared their disdain for The View attempting to turn the heat up on Mamdani so it could perform a ‘goctha’ moment on live TV. Just days ago, host Whoopi Goldberg took a stand for Jimmy Kimmel, only to be called cowardly for waiting too long after his suspension. That said, despite The View‘s efforts to make Zohran Mamdani look bad, as one user puts it: “All they did is make him look better.”
