After years of ongoing discussion and failed Amazon series (no Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee!?), Sony revealed a peek into Zombieland 2 at CinemaCon.
During their on-stage presentation this week, Sony revealed what many horror and comedy fans were hoping for. The new logo looks just like the original, but with a big number 2 propped up beside it. Comicbook.com has the shot below:
No plot details were discussed during the news, only that the stars from the first film Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson, will all return. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (who also helped launch the Amazon series), who wrote Zombieland will also be jotting down the notes and script for the long-awaited sequel. Ruben Fleischer will also return as the director. Fleischer is also well-known for directing Funny or Die sketches and Between Two Firns with Zach Galifinakis, so it’s easy to see where some of the Zombieland comedy may come from.
Zombieland was released back in 2009 to a bit of a cult following. It still did very well at the worldwide box office, reeling in 102-million dollars on a 24-million dollar budget. There was no mention of an epic and hilarious re-cameo of Bill Murray this time around, though if you;ve seen the movie I suppose that’d be hard to pull off.
I’m extremely excited for this sequel. It’s already in development, so hopefully it comes sooner rather than later. The original is one of my all-time favorite movies, are you excited?
If so, let us know. Until that time, always remember Rule #32.
