Recently hired “Guest Writer” Alexis Kennedy revealed that he was working on a writing a significant amount of lore for an unannounced project. That project has turned out to be the next installment in the Dragon Age franchise.

The first indication that the project revolved around the company’s other big entity outside of Mass Effect came from a blog post by Kennedy. The post said he was hired by Bioware and was working on “a significant piece of content,” leading fans to believe it was the Dragon Age series.

Great now I have to figure out how to work "Worldbuilding" into all my conversations with Alexis.

A tweet directed at the writer earlier this year by the series executive producer Mark Darrah, stating welcome to Dragon Age, all but confirmed the speculation. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Kennedy finally revealed it was true.

Kennedy is best known for being one of the co-founders of developer Failbetter Games, the developer behind Sunless Sea, a 2016 indie survival/exploration role-playing video game that has received rave reviews. He also worked on his own project called Cultist Simulator and created narrative content for Stellaris, and compared what it was like to write for Bioware in comparison to the other games.

“There are huge differences between all of that and what I’m working on at BioWare, Kennedy told Eurogamer, “What I can say is I have been given considerable autonomy to work on a storyline bit of lore which is well-segregated from other parts of the game.”

The former freelance writer is based out of Greenwich, U.K, while the Bioware team behind Dragon Age project is located in Edmonton.

The untitled project will be the fourth installment in the series, coupled with a fair amount of DLC, but there is no information in regards to its release date, content or even name at this point in time.
