The first official trailer for the Netflix series, Marvel’s The Defenders, has arrived. And it looks like the team, now fully assembled, will be a force to be reckoned with.
All of the cast members from the heroes’ stand alone series will be returning. Charlie Cox will reprise his role as the blind vigilante, Daredevil; Krysten Ritter as the super strong Jessica Jones; Mike Colter as the impenetrable Luke Cage; and Finn Jones and the guy with the glowing fist, the Iron Fist. In the trailer, one can see a lot of things happening, the most important being how The Defenders overcome their differences in order to work as a team. It appears Danny Rand and Luke Cage will have a small altercation at first. Check out the trailer below.
With the team (finally) coming together, we also see a new enemy arise in New York City. Sigourney Weaver will play Alexandra, a mysterious foe we don’t have much factual information on from the trailer as of yet. We see The Defenders being tossed through the air like a pile of leaves in the wind in one scene, with Alexandra saying to The Defenders in a scene after, “The more connections you have, the easier it will be to break you.” This begs the question: Does Alexandra possess powers similar to Madame Gao’s (In season 1 of Iron Fist Madame Gao throws Danny much like you see The Defenders getting thrown in this trailer)?
The trailer also reveals that we will see the return of Elektra, Colleen Wing, Stick, Misty Knight, and, of course, Claire Temple. With a new, more formidable, enemy, this group of heroes is gonna need all the help they can get (although Elektra may not be so friendly in this series). After the first teaser trailer with The Defenders riding in an elevator, this one reveals a lot more about what the team-up will look like. Look for more news regarding The Defenders as we get closer to its release date on August 18.
