PAYDAY2 virtual reality beta is coming out on November 16, and eager fans of the series are able to get it for free if they already have a copy of the game. This is only for the HTC Vive.
The virtual reality is able to allow players to crossplay between those who do not own a VR. Yesterday, the game developer, Tobias, answered some questions for eager fans on a steam thread.

The developer told fans that there will not be a teleport system but instead, a new ‘dash’ system will be put in place. The ‘dash’ works by choosing the location and then your character will ‘dash’ there. The ‘dash’ is nearly instant. This system, in the third person, would look like running. They have decided to do this because the developers want to make the gameplay easy and fast without it being disorientated.
Tobias also gave an insight on future plans for virtual reality. He said:
“If there is a big interest in the Oculus, we can look into it later in the beta period or post-release.”
Tobias also comments on the advantage of stealth mode in VR as players will be able to sneak better. He goes on to say that they are still experimenting with a lot of the virtual reality, so many aspects will still need to be tested such as climbing ladders. The developers are also looking into a trackpad system once the beta has been released since many fans have been requesting this.
For anyone who has not picked up the game yet, STeam describes it as: “An action-packed, four-player co-op shooter that once again lets gamers don the masks of the original PAYDAY crew – Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains – as they descend on Washington DC for an epic crime spree.”
