Respawn is a company that specializes in chairs made especially for gamers. The RSP-205 is the top of their line and we had the honor of receiving one for review. Any gamer knows that you might be sitting in a chair for a long period of time and the chair you sit in must be somewhat comfortable. At least that is the desire of anyone who sits and games for hours at a time. So, let’s take a look at this model from Respawn.
This is the box we received which was a pretty good sized box. As you can tell, the chair we received was blue but don’t worry, if blue isn’t your favorite color, it also comes in green, gray and red.
Here is a picture of the back of the box showing all the features of the RSP-205.
This photo was on the side of the box showing what the final product should look like after assembly.
So, let’s talk assembly for a moment. The instructions weren’t the best guide we have worked with in the past. There were no text instructions, only pictures. The pictures seem to make sense for the most part but there were a couple of times we were looking at it wondering if we were doing the right thing. They did have the screws, washers and hex tool labeled and separated but, again, it could have been a little more clear. Overall, there wasn’t a whole lot of trouble figuring it out but things could have been a little more DIY friendly. We did have an instance where washers didn’t fit that was supposed to or there were screws missing. The good news is they provided a spare parts compartment that covered our needs.
After we got the chair assembled, this was the final product. It looks pretty nice, right? The chair is not terribly heavy except for maybe the bottom “feet” which was the heaviest part. The backing was not solid. It was made of a mesh-like material providing ventilation while you sit in it.
There are several features that include seat height adjustment, armrest height adjustment, 360-degree swivel, and the back reclines between 90-130 degrees with infinite angle lock. The other adjustable feature is the removable headrest and lumbar support. Below is an overview of the features of this chair from Respawn’s website.
With a suggested retail cost of $224.99, the cost is very reasonable when compared to other gaming chairs that are much more expensive. The design of the chair is very sleek and appears to look just as nice as the competition, as well. I like the mesh backing that lets air in and out keeping you from getting too hot.
The neck rest and lumbar support look pretty nice and, for some, it might be comfortable. For me, it made me feel like I could not get comfortable with it attached and was inclined to remove it. I like the idea, I just couldn’t get it to work in a way that worked for me. The chair was more comfortable, in my opinion, without it. Again, it could just be personal preference.
The other thing that was a little disappointing was the armrests were only up and down adjustable. You couldn’t move them out or forward and back which might cause discomfort for some.
Cost: $224.99

Verdict: The Respawn RSP-205 is a very sleek looking gaming chair that after testing it out for several days I found to be a great product. Not only is the design nice but the chair is pretty comfortable. It provides mesh backing to keep your back ventilated and adjustable height and tilt to allow you to get it where you need it to be. The price is reasonable when shopping for gaming chairs and you’re getting a great chair. I would definitely recommend this chair to someone who wants a gaming chair but doesn’t want to pay $400 or more to get it.
