Riding off the coattails of last year’s success, Level-5’s Yo-Kai Watch will launch this fall with their second game exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
Already out in Japan, You-Kai Watch 2 is slated to be released September 30th, 2016 here in the U.S. Already out and a huge hit in its motherland, Yo-Kai Watch 2 will be released in two different games; Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls.
Both games will have new and rare characters that can be found in their respective titles, many more areas to explore outside of Sunnydale, a new and updated watch, over 100 new Yo-Kai, and the ability to travel backwards in time.
Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing said the following on the popularity of Yo-Kai Watch in the United States states, “After being such a massive sensation in Japan, it’s great to see the U.S. start to embrace the mischievous and lovable Yo-kai. We’re excited to continue bringing fun Yo-kai experiences stateside this year.”
Since its release in the United States, Yo-Kai Watch’s popularity has surged not only in the gaming industry but also the entertainment (such as television shows) and toy industries. In addition to the game being released in September, the second season of Yo-Kai Watch has been acquired by Disney XD to premiere sometime this summer, and the toymaker Hasbro will release a watch, similar to the one Nate wears in season 2. It will have an area to put a Yo-Kai Medal and have a projected animation of the character. Fans can also expect plush toys, electronic figures and collectable trading cards to be released throughout the rest of the year.
