The next chapter for all Warriors of Light is here, and beyond the new zones and jobs, there are many more things coming. With the notes of patch 7.0 for FFXIV Dawntrail already out, many can see what’s coming on launch day. However, instead of listing every change coming to the expansion, we thought it’d be better to list the most important changes coming to this new adventure. So, prepare your glamour, your Chocobo, and your equipment because the gilded lands are upon us.
10. Tribal Quests Are Now Allied Society Quests
This might not seem too important, but the name change might confuse veteran adventurers. The Tribal Quests of FFXIV have undergone many changes regarding their name. For FFXIV Dawntrail, you’ll see them as Allied Society Quests. While the name is different, everything else works exactly the same. You have combat-oriented quests and others tailored (no pun intended) for crafters and gatherers. Patch 7.0 of FFXIV Dawntrail will not come with any new ones, according to the preliminary notes, but we’ll likely see the new Allied Societies coming in later patches.
9. The Two-Dye System Will Be Available For All
For the fashionistas out there, the two-dye system is one of the most anticipated features of Dawntrail. While most things in this MMO are locked behind the MSQ, this new feature isn’t one. As long as you have unlocked the dye feature from the “Color Your World” quest at Thanalan, you should be good to go. Once the expansion goes live, you can pick between two dye colors for your outfit. Also, remember that not every piece of gear allows two dyes, so be mindful of that when trying to customize your equipment.
8. Every Character Will Get a New Facegear Slot
Until now, players were only able to use glasses or other facegear if they removed their helmets. While this isn’t an issue in roleplaying scenarios or to do some /gpose pictures, some wanted to wear glasses while facing some of the game’s mightiest foes. That’s why Yoshi-P and his team have added a new facegear slot for all characters. Once Dawntrail goes live, go to your equipment screen to find the new slot. You’ll be able to equip glasses without taking your helmet off. So, if you see some of your accessories disappear from your Fashion tab, don’t worry. You still own them all, albeit in a different slot.
7. You Can Now Hide Players When Near Other NPCs
Many MMO players know about the struggle of trying to click an NPC while surrounded by other players. Thankfully, FFXIV Dawntrail tries to fix this according to the 7.0 patch notes. By heading to your character configuration menu, you can hide players when approaching a quest NPC. This is only temporary but will make questing less overwhelming and a bit more immersive. While I don’t mind seeing players in the world, it is a bit difficult to click on NPCs at times to continue certain quests, so this is a fantastic feature coming to the expansion.
6. More Bicolor Gemstones for Everyone
Out of all the currencies you’ll need in FFXIV Dawntrail, Bicolor Gemstones will be some of the most important ones, at least during patch 7.0. If Endwalker taught us anything, most rare crafting materials will require this currency. However, Dawntrail will allow players to find more Bicolor Gemstones. The maximum amount you can carry will go up to 1500, which is great, especially for those who make a FATE train and want to grind several hours without having to visit the store to exchange them.
5. The Armoury Bonus Will Increase
If you’re new to FFXIV, you should know that the Armoury Bonus boosts your job experience gains at lower levels. Once you have a character at, let’s say, level 90, those below that level will get more experience points. In Endwalker, the bonus from level 81 to 90 was 50%, but with Dawntrail, it’ll become 100%, making it great for those who want to level up Viper and Pictomancer on launch day.
4. Some Tomestones and Scrips Will Be Converted
You might’ve noticed that each expansion brings new Tomestones and Scrips for combat Disciples of War and Magic and Disciples of the Land and Hand, respectively. Once Dawntrail arrives, this currency will be gone. Well, not entirely. According to the patch notes for 7.0, once FFXIV Dawntrail, your Tomestones will be converted to Tomestones of Poetics while your Scrips will turn to Purple Scrips. Keep this in mind if you want to buy certain things before Endwalker ends.
3. Fantasia Has a 60-Minute Grace Period
One of the best things coming to Dawntrail is the 60-minute grace period for Fantasia users. Previously, once you used a Fantasia, you had to edit your character, and once the changes were done, there was no changing back unless you bought another Fantasia. Thankfully, 7.0 will allow players to re-edit their character as many times as they want for 60 minutes after using their Fantasia. So, instead of going on a spending spree, take your time and test your character with their new looks.
2. You Can Finally Mute Players
Despite FFXIV being one of the least toxic MMOs in the market, there are still some people who can harass others, and thankfully, Square Enix has taken new measures to keep a healthy environment in Eorzea. Dawntrail will introduce a new system that allows you to mute players. While you won’t be able to see their messages in the world, if you’re in the same group, you’ll sadly see their messages. Still, it is a great start for those who want to remove unwanted players from their adventure.
1. Female Hrothgars Only Require Shadowbringers
Last but not least, we have the latest furry sensation: female Hrothgars. Despite them being a Dawntrail addition, as long as you have Shadowbringers, you can use them as a playable race. This makes sense, given how male Hrothgars debuted in 5.0. So, if you own that expansion, you can start playing this long-awaited race at any moment. If you want to see how the race will look in-game, we recommend checking the benchmark, including female Hrothgars.
If you want to catch all the changes coming to FFXIV Dawntrail, the patch notes for 7.0 are here. Since it is an expansion launch, the list is quite long yet detailed, with many things that will surprise players. And now, with Tuliyollal approaching faster every day, learning what awaits you never hurts. After all, this might be the first expansion for many, so it is better to be prepared for these lands full of adventure and mystery.
