When Treyarch announced that they wanted us to feel like taking part in an action movie with Black Ops 6 and its Omnimovement system, this truth wasn’t a lie. The latest Black Ops 6 Campaign story gameplay trailer at Gamescom shows off a brilliant 007 x Call of Duty mission called the Most Wanted. A lot is revealed in this short 6 minutes long video, and we’re here to break it down for you.
10. Black Ops 6 Protagonist, Revealed
First things first, we now know who we get to play in the Black Ops 6 Campaign story. The name is William Calderon, called “Case.” This new character is not detailed in a line for who he is and why he cooperates with the rogue CIA agents to save Adler. But whatever the case, it’s good to have a named protagonist who’ll probably have his own background rather than a brainwashed soldier called Bell.
9. The Options Vary; Your Call
During the Black Ops 6 reveal event in June, we got to know that some of the game’s missions allow you to choose between going on a killing spree or keeping a low-profile assassin-style approach. However, the Gamescom Black Ops 6 Campaign story trailer takes that to the next level, by revealing many more prospects to infiltrate a CIA black site. For instance, in the Most Wanted mission, we’re shown three ways that Case can take photographs of Bill Clinton’s Senator McKenna to unlock the black site.
8. Adler Ain’t No Mole
With a brief Black Ops 6 event going live on Warzone back in June, we thought that Russel Adler was the CIA mole and Woods was actually trying to take him down. However, the CIA is hunted from the inside, and as it turns out, Adler is kept away from the good guys by a corrupt group called the Pantheon.
7. Pantheon Logo
This is Perseus 2.0. There aren’t many details about this Pantheon group or why they’re invading the CIA, but we might have just hunted down their logo on the juggernaut that arrives on the black site.
6. New Gears On The Menu
- Disrupter
- Homing Knife
- RC-XD
- C4
- Frag Grenade
- Stun Grenade
- Stim Shot
- Classified Item*
The gears menu from the recent Call of Duty games is back, and we’ve got the items above on the list. The iconic RCXD is back, and the Disruptor is another variant of the Electroshock Sticks that we already have in MW2 and MW3. There’s a classified item on the list too, which isn’t described at all. Cool to know that the Stim Shot and this mysterious item are the only stealthy ones marked by a small sign on the menu.
5. Bomb Drones? Nah, Homing Knives Forever!
While we have clunky truck-slow Bomb Drones in MW3, Black Ops 6 introduces a new gadget that is straight from Batman’s arsenal. The Homing Knife is a Throwing Knife as we have in the current MW3, but it explodes, and you get to control and detonate it yourself! Could this gadget reach the Multiplayer mode? I don’t think so.
4. WWII Style Quick Time Events
QTE isn’t new for Call of Duty, but it is for Russel Adler. This returning Black Ops 6 Campaign gameplay feature looks and plays very much like the ones in WWII in terms of timing. This would give more action to the gameplay, and it’s kind of fun to lose in different scenarios of these quick-time events to see how it goes.
3. The Escape Plan Is Vorkuta 2.0
The Black Ops 6 trailer from June’s reveal event brought us back to the Vorkuta prison for one second. And well, we’ve got ourselves another reference to Victor Reznov’s second home by Russel Adler and Troy Marshall’s escape plan with motorcycles.
2. They’re After Adler, And He Might Have Some Crucial Info On Pantheon
According to the Black Ops 6 gameplay trailer at Gamescom, Russel Adler has sent a secret message to Frank Woods, alerting him about something. This is way too big that Woods has sent a team to rescue Adler from a CIA black site. What could it be? We still don’t know. But Pantheon seems to have turned the CIA against Adler, and then they try to kill him off during the showcased mission. “They’ve sent the big guns after you Adler.”
1. Tank Missions Are Back!
One last gameplay detail on the Black Ops 6 Campaign gameplay Gamescom trailer, the tank control missions are back! During the final parts of the trailer, where events just flash by in, like, two seconds, you can spot a tank as if players are controlling it. In the old days of Call of Duty, controlling tanks in WWII-related titles was fun.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is due to release on October 25, 2024.
