Looking for some Tears of the Kingdom tips? If you thought the last game let you do anything, just wait until what some of these tricks let you do in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Once the new game dropped, fans clamored to see what the newest release would bring them. Fans have been wondering what the best discoveries of the game are now that it’s out for everyone. Our Tears of the Kingdom tips will help you learn more about the lore and get better at the game, or at least point you in the right direction. If you don’t mind some spoilers, we have some of the best Tears of the Kingdom things to know below.

10. Zonai Architecture

One of the biggest expansions that fans are excited about in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is that we get to learn a whole lot more about the lore of the world we’re in. In our list of Tears of the Kingdom things to know the architecture is one of the most telling things. With this game taking place firmly in the present, it’s only natural that we’re going to get a more up close and personal experience of what’s going on in Hyrule around us. Tears of the Kingdom delivers what the fans want: an expansion of what went on in Breath of the Wild. The game explains far more about the Zonai ruins, as they appear in Breath of the Wild. In the previous game, there were mazes and other architecture. In Tears of the Kingdom, we get a closer look at the Zonai and what all that grand architecture was supposed to do, answering lore questions and creating world-building scenarios.

9. Zonai Cultural Details

Another Tears of the Kingdom tip about the Zonai that we have confirmed through the game is that they have a religion. Their structure of worship is similar to many ancient cultures in the real world. These cultural details draw inspiration from a mess of other cultures, combining to create one that looks unique all on its own. The Triforce, in their belief system, is the power and deity of sorts that the Zonai worship. The three representatives of each part of the Tri-Force are a dragon for Courage, an owl for Wisdom, and a bear for Power.

8. Zonai Origins and History

Our list of Tears of the Kingdom things to know largely concerns the Zonai, and where they came from. In Tears of the Kingdom, the game confirms that the Zonai are essentially, demigods. Or, more pointedly, “descendants of gods that come from the sky.” What does that mean exactly? Unfortunately, it only means what it means on the surface level. They lived on the island that float above Hyrule, only coming down to build the ruins that we find much later in the timeline. As for why they left, that is currently unknown. Their motivations aren’t concrete, so it’s uncertain at this point if they are friends or foes.

We do happen to get a good glimpse at their history, however. There are a ton of theories circulating around about the Zonai in Legend of Zelda. With so little to go on so far, it’s hard to confirm much except what the games exclusively tell us. Right now we have a few key facts about their history that can hopefully satiate the curiosity. King Rauru and Queen Sonai are the royal families within the Zonai. The ruins in Faron and Damel Forest confirm their lineage, where they ruled. Beyond these facts, there isn’t much more to tell.

7. Sheikah Cultural Details

Concerning other races and their cultures, Tears of the Kingdom goes into detail about more races than just one. In our Tears of the Kingdom things to know, we’ll go over how the Sheikah for example, also has a religion. They have a more stable purpose in life, serving the Goddess Hylia. Because she protects the land, the Sheikah worship her and pay great homage. With the ability to speak to the Goddess, the Sheikah are considered a gifted people and the chosen ones of the Goddess. They are completely devoted to the Goddess and wouldn’t dare do anything that opposes her bidding. Many of these details may be a thing referenced in Breath of the Wild, but they’re far from confirmed until we get a closer look during Tears of the Kingdom, that is.

6. Sheikah Appearance

In our top details of Tears of the Kingdom things to know, we’ll cover more about the Sheikah. The Sheikah, while we are able to evaluate them in Breath of the Wild, get more detail as Tears of the Kingdom things to know. We see them more up close in TOTK, with angular faces, eyes, and stark white hair. Their clothes are emphasized as well, with their flat angular hats, black undergarments and white and red overcoats that sag on their frames. Other than the stripes on their clothes, the design is meant to blend in with the forest.

5. Details About The Sheikah Slate

It was the Sheikah that developed the Slate that you use to check your map, so it’s best to be grateful that they did. Otherwise, your map may look like an actual map or something. The slate is one of the most valuable tools throughout both games, so it’s no surprise it gets a little more details during the second round. It’s an essential tool that acts as a key for temples, a map of the land, and a beacon creator for the towers you find across the map.

4. You Box In Horses

Enough of all the lore—there are tons of practical Tears of the Kingdom things to know that you may not have thought of. For instance, if you’re having trouble getting your feet on a horse, there is a chaotic solution to getting horses. Try creating a box with Ultrahand. Once you made your box at least as big as the horse, you can use it to trap the horse in place while you climb on over and get inside to ride the horse until its yours. A pretty handy way around things if you’re tired of chasing a set of hooves all over Hyrule.

3. Ascend Can Phase Through Enemies’ Bodies

The ability Ascend is super useful, broken almost. In our list of Tears of the Kingdom things to know, we’ll cover why Ascend can be one of your greatest tools. Did you know that big enough enemies count as objects you can phase through? If you’re facing a big monster or object that is giving you trouble, try the Ascend ability. The only trick is, to use it you have to be directly under the monster. Nine times out of ten, that’s not a safe place to be. It may take a little trial and error, but if you score the timing right, you can use Ascend to get the drop on an enemy. Work smarter, not harder.

2. You Can Use Physics To Your Advantage

Physics in Tears of the Kingdom is iffy at best. Sometimes things that just wouldn’t work in the real work totally work in Hyrule, so why not outsmart the game? When you’re presented with a problem, a good frame of mind to keep is: can I cheat the game by abusing physics? There are many scenarios that work well with this question. For example, if you have one rail end but not another, consider adding some kind of counterweight on the other side. That way you technically don’t need both sides of the railway to make functional use of it.

1. How To Outsmart Being Over-Encumbered

Just like the previous game, Tears of the Kingdom is a game that encourages players to think on their feet. Of all the Tears of the Kingdom tips we could possibly list, making sure to break the game is one of the most important ones. There may be a traditional way to outsmart a problem or a puzzle, and if you find it you do technically win. But there are also loads of tools at your disposal that you can use to disrupt the game and find your own path to victory. Take, for instance, the problem of being over-encumbered. Do you have a horse? Do you have a cart nearby? Who says you can’t use both to get what you want and no longer have all that stock-taking over your inventory? Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom definitely encourages the notion: Work smarter, not harder.
