The 10th anniversary of Star Wars Rebels takes place next year, and Marvel is bringing exclusive variant covers to celebrate the occasion. These Rebels 10th Anniversary Variant Covers come from acclaimed artist Caspar Wijngaard, who is no stranger to the Star Wars universe. Wijngaard’s variants will grace the covers of next year’s Star Wars and Star Wars: Darth Vader titles between January and April. This caps off an amazing year for the Star Wars Rebels universe, which is currently enjoying the success of the Disney+ series Ahsoka.
What Is Star Wars Rebels?
The Star Wars Rebels series takes place canonically before A New Hope. It began as an animated series that followed the very early adventures of the Rebellion. The series focused on a slew of characters, including Jedi apprentice Ezra Bridger, pilot Hera Syndulla, the droid Chopper, warrior Sabine Wren, and many more. It also continued the journey of Ahsoka Tano.
While the animated series is over, it is still influencing the Star Wars universe. Characters and events from the animated series still pop up in novels, comics, and other media. Of course, the saga of Ahsoka is chronicled in her live-action Disney+ series.
10th Anniversary Variants
Honoring the 10th anniversary with these variant covers is no easy task. Thankfully, they are in good hands with artist Caspar Wjingaard. They recently spoke about their excitement and honor at celebrating such a big moment in the Rebels universe. It was particularly good timing for the artist as well, who recently revisited the adventures of the Spectres before tackling these variants.
The celebration kicks off with January’s Star Wars #42 and Star Wars: Darth Vader #42. Then, the next four issues over the next four months of each series show off a new exclusive variant. These feature some iconic Star Wars Rebels characters like Ahsoka, Hera Syndulla and Chopper, and Ezra Bridger.
