The Arbiter, the leader of the Covenant and former enemy of the Master Chief, is officially coming to Killer Instinct.

The Arbiter was teased earlier this year as a new character in the third season of Microsoft’s flagship fighting game. But the official reveal trailer shed light on how the Elite solider will play and how he fits into the look of the game. He will wield his iconic Energy Sword and leap around the battlefield, launch his enemies into the air, pull out his Carbine and fire off a couple of shots as his opponent crashes to the ground.

The Arbiter fits right into Killer Instinct's bizarre roster.

A new stage will accompany the release of the Arbiter later this year. It looks to be set on the Elite home world, and has a lot going on in the background. Other Elites fight, Banshees speech overhead, and Scarabs burst through the walls.

The Arbiter marks the third character in Killer Instinct’s third season; following behind Rash from Battletoads and Kim Wu, a returning character in the series. We don’t know which other characters will join the ever-expanding roster, but if the current additions are any indication, we can expect some more cross-over characters. Maybe we’ll see the Locust from Gears of War, or an agent from Crackdown.

Killer Instinct's roster continues to grow.
COMBO BREAKER!

Killer Instinct was released in 2013 for Xbox One. Each year it receives a new season including new characters, stages and modes. The game is set to release on PC this year, but no exact date is known.
