Halo Infinite was revealed to the world at E3 2018. Although it was just a brief teaser announcement, some gamers began speculating on where Infinite will place in the Halo timeline.
Writer and content creator for 343 Industries Jeff Easterling confirmed during a Mixer stream, via Gamespot, that Halo Infinite is the next main installment of the franchise:
“You should just consider it Halo 6. Don’t think of it as a weird prequel kind of thing. It’s the next story. It’s the next chapter in what is going on.”
In a blog post at HaloWaypoint, Studio Head Chris Lee said that the 343 team listened to the feedback from fans regarding Master Chief’s reduced role in Halo 5 and claims that Halo Infinite will put the focus back on the iconic hero. Lee also said that they do not plan to rush out Infinite anytime soon in order to “make the right game”.
Unfortunately, that’s all we know about Halo Infinite for the time being. We will keep you updated on the game as we get more information.
2015’s Halo 5 was a mixed bag in my opinion. Its multiplayer adapted in some strong ways with the new Warzone mode. Arena and Forge were also great modes to play around with as well.
Where Halo 5 surprisingly faltered is with its story campaign. Not only was it too short but the inclusion of Spartan Jameson Locke as a secondary protagonist didn’t gel as well as it could have. 343 Industries realized this and is looking to put the franchise back on track as one of the cornerstones of the gaming community.
