War tends to raise the cost of living for countries involved, and the US has just gone to war with a country that controls a vital portion of the global oil supply. The result? Gas and diesel prices have gone through the roof in many US states; it’s hitting Trump and MAGA supporters where it hurts, so much so that a couple of them in Tennessee even announced their disillusionment and “breakup” with Trump in a viral sticker-ripping clip.
TikTok user @shannondawn, or Shannon Dawn from Manchester, Tennessee, uploaded the clip on March 6 showing a man in a Circle K gas station ripping off a “Trump 2024” sticker from their car. The man then went to talk to the woman in the car to rant about President Trump, saying, “How the [expletive] can we take America back when these [expletive] don’t even support us?” while he crumples the Trump sticker in anger.
In addition to the angry quote, Shannon Dawn also captioned the clip, “Groceries higher than hell, housing through the roof and diesel hits $4.19. Meanwhile @President Donald J Trump is spending our tax dollars in a war.” It’s not clear what else the man was ranting about, but based on what he said, the anti-Trump-administration opinion is strong, considering he was once a Trump supporter.
Shannon Dawn also apparently runs a farm in rural Tennessee, and in the past, farmers have been heavily affected by the Trump administration’s policies. The tariffs, for example, have placed Tennessee soybean farmers in a desperate situation. Now, it appears the soaring gas price is the nail in the coffin for the particular Trump supporter in the clip.
It’s Worse in Other States
For the record, $4/gallon isn’t the worst example here, as Los Angeles is now facing $8/gallon fuel prices, though urban areas tend to have a higher cost of living compared to rural Tennessee. Regardless, some people online have mocked the former Trump supporter’s reasoning, after he was seemingly triggered by the gas prices of all things.
“Not a genocide, not the child [expletive], not ICE kidnapping and murdering people, but gas prices. Amerikkka,” jokes an Instagram commenter. A reply did point out how this kind of thorough process works, especially for disillusioned political figure supporters, “they only care once something effects them. They could care less about what is happening to people around them 😔.”
Now, while the former Trump supporter has announced his change of heart, it appears his post has struggled to garner sympathy online, as the comments on the clip were even disabled. One X user then points out the obvious, ranting, “WE TOLD YOU,” with another one saying it more calmly, “Welcome to the ‘dark side’ sir! You voted for this!!”
