Sony has officially revealed the new God of War.
A large orchestra opened the show, playing a haunting melody before the curtains opened to reveal the first gameplay. A figure who looks nearly identical to Kratos is shown teaching his young son to hunt until they are attacked by a group of strange beast-like warriors.
Kratos wields a large battle ax, defeating his attackers with a combination of ax throws and well-placed punches. A troll then charges the warrior and his son, leading to an epic confrontation. Kratos unleashes his “spartan rage,” confirming that his ties still lie with the greek gods and the pantheon that he single-handedly destroyed.
Combat looks similar to the previous titles, but with a larger focus on ranged attacks. The rumors of the fourth iteration in the franchise tackling Norse mythology are true, and the world is breathtakingly beautiful. The gameplay concluded with Kratos telling his son that he is now ready for “a new beginning” as a dragon soars over their heads.
Many questions still linger, such as why is Kratos now part of Norse mythology? What happened since the last game? Or is this a new Kratos in a new realm? No matter how many questions we may have, we are jut happy to have Kratos back on our consoles. You can watch the full gameplay below.
