In Minecraft, without tools, you can’t get the necessary resources to build, craft, or even create a portal to hell. If you want to get the most out of your tools, you can enchant them on the Enchanting Table to get additional buffs, and for this, you should know the five best tool enchantments in Minecraft. There are dozens of different enchantments in the game, some will be completely useless, while others are extremely useful to make the game easier.

Minecraft: 5 Best Tool Enchantments

To get an enchantment, all you need is an Enchanting Table and enough experience to enchant an item. Unfortunately, when you use an Enchanting Table, you can’t identify exactly what effect you’ll get, so it’s all about your luck. A good alternative would be to find books with enchantments and use an anvil to apply the effect on the desired item. So, let’s talk in more detail about which enchantments will bring you the most benefit.

If you’re a fan of fishing, then this enchantment is just for you, as it will allow you to catch prey much faster. With each level, you reduce the waiting time by five seconds. As the maximum enchantment level is three, you can potentially save 15 seconds each time.

It’s recommended to use it with the Luck Of The Sea enchantment to quickly catch not only rubbish but also valuable items and fish.

Silk Touch

Silk Touch is probably the most interesting and unusual enchantment because when using it and destroying something, you can get the block itself, instead of a drop or nothing at all. Take the Monster Spawner, for example, which gives you nothing but experience if you break it. If it’s broken with a pickaxe that is enchanted with Silk Touch, then you’ll get a Monster Spawner as a block itself, which you can then be placed and used to create an experience farm.

This is very useful because there are many blocks in the game that you can’t get without Silk Touch. Many of them are decorative, but there are also practical ones, such as packed ice for building speed roads, or spider webs to slow down enemies.

Efficiency

To make the process of mining more enjoyable and faster, it’s recommended to enchant your pickaxe with Efficiency. In general, you can enchant other tools as well, but the pickaxe is the most important. With the Efficiency I enchantment, your tool will break blocks 25% faster, and with each new level, it will increase by 5%.

The maximum level of this enchantment is five, which means that your tool can break blocks up to 45% faster. If you need to gather resources as quickly as possible, this is the best option.

Fortune

To get even more out of your mining trip and collect more resources, use the Fortune enchantment. Depending on the level of the enchantment, you’ll be able to increase the number of resources extracted from the ore. It’s worth noting that the number of resources you get depends on the rarity of the ore. For example, from diamond ore, you can get from one to four diamonds, and if we are talking about Lapis Lazuli, then up to 36 pieces.

Outside of mining, this enchantment is also useful on the surface. For example, you can increase the chance of seeds dropping from a plant, such as beets or wheat. In addition, you can also go to hell to increase the chance of mining more Nether Wart, Glowstone, or Quartz Ore. If you want to fish, this effect will be useless, and you’ll need to enchant your fishing rod with Luck Of The Sea instead.

Mending

Mending is an extremely useful enchantment in Minecraft that makes your tools have infinite durability. When you hold the tool in your hand, it will passively regenerate its durability, but at the cost of your experience. When it comes to using this enchantment with a pickaxe, however, this sacrifice is negligible because digging for ore will give you experience that will then be exchanged with your tool’s regenerating durability. Pretty handy, eh?

It’s worth noting that this particular enchantment can’t be obtained by interacting with the Enchanting Table, but only by finding a book with it in dungeons. An alternative to Mending is Unbreaking. Unlike Mending, you can get it on the enchantment table, but in this case, you just increase the strength of the tool. Somewhat ironically, a tool with the Unbreaking enchantment can still break, though, so make sure to bear that in mind.
