There are a ton of fighting games on Roblox, but none of them capture the over-the-top combat of anime quite like The Strongest Battlegrounds. That’s no surprise considering the game’s characters are modeled on some of the genre’s most popular heroes and villains. Don’t let the blocky visuals fool you. Just like in Blox Fruits, there’s a surprising amount of depth to combat in this game, and you’ll need to bring your best if you want to be the last one standing. Here are 5 crucial tips and tricks if you want to get good in The Strongest Battlegrounds.

5. Master Movement

Heroes in The Strongest Battlegrounds are capable of some flashy attacks, from the Menacing Cyborg’s Incinerate to the Brutal Demon’s Death Blow. Though you can win battles in an instant by landing your deadliest attack (especially one-shot moves like Death Counter), thinking only about offense is a mistake. Spacing, zoning, and dodging are as important here as they are in other 3D fighters. Learn the differences between the various dashes, and use the shorter cooldowns of the side and back dashes to your advantage. The front dash leaves you vulnerable to attack, so charge forward with caution.

4. Learn Characters You Don’t Play

Every character in the game has access to different abilities, including a unique Ultimate Mode. Just like in other fighting games, learning the ins and outs of your character is a must if you want to succeed. Don’t just stop at learning your character, though. One of the best tips to get good in The Strongest Battlegrounds is to learn characters you don’t play. That means not only understanding their abilities but also what technique they’re likely to use next. Knowing the range limits of the Menacing Cyborg, for example, will help you counter his zoning.

3. Side Dash Out of M1 Strings

You can string multiple M1 punches into a combo, but using four back-to-back M1s stuns you. Although the stun window is brief, it’s more than enough for a watchful opponent to take advantage of. In short, extended M1 combos leave you vulnerable. There’s a way to minimize the risk of your opponent countering you, however. The key is to side dash on your fourth M1. Doing so allows you to create some space between your opponent and yourself, making it much harder for them to instantly punish your stun window.

2. Stay Unpredictable

Staying unpredictable is one thing that separates good Strongest Battlegrounds players from great ones. No, you probably shouldn’t emote in the middle of battle, but you should pay attention to your habits and avoid falling into ruts your opponent can punish. Things like always blocking after certain moves or always side dashing in the same direction make it easy for your opponent to read you. Varying your combos, approaches, and evades will make it much harder for opponents to land hits, let alone lock you into a combo. Similarly, if you notice that the Hero Hunter you’re fighting always goes for combos, you can punish that predictability.

1. Fight People Better Than You

It’s easy to beat players who aren’t as good as you, and it can be satisfying to rack up a bunch of wins in a row. That said, one of the best tips to get good at The Strongest Battlegrounds is to fight players better than you. You’ll lose a lot of fights by doing so, but you’ll be exposed to movement techs, openers, feints, and ability combos that you’d never see otherwise. If you’re serious about improving at the game, embrace the difficulty and losses that come with fighting experienced players. By doing so you’ll pick up a ton of experience and quickly become the best Bald Hero or Deadly Ninja that you can be.

Roblox is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
