Diddy’s recent apology video has landed the rapper in more drama and left fans with mixed emotions. Recall that Diddy sparked a debate online a few days ago after publicly apologizing for his actions following a resurfaced footage of him assaulting his ex-partner, Cassie. The video ignited a wave of reactions from fans and celebrities, including Diddy’s constant troll, 50 Cent. Taking to social media, the Power star responded to Diddy’s apology, calling it a bad move. It is more evident that the 50 Cent and Diddy feud isn’t ending anytime soon.
Inside Diddy’s Assault Footage and Apology
On May 17, 2024, the controversy surrounding Diddy reached new heights after CNN released surveillance footage of an altercation between the rapper and Cassie. The content of the clip matched the assault allegations Cassie made against Diddy in a now-settled lawsuit from November 2023. In the security camera footage, Cassie exited a hotel room and walked toward an elevator. However, Cassie’s exit was unsuccessful as Diddy came after her, grabbing her by the neck and throwing her to the floor. He then proceeded to brutally kick and hit Cassie before dragging her back into the hotel room.
Following the footage’s release, Diddy swiftly reacted to the clip with an apology. In Diddy’s apology video, posted on Instagram, the 54-year-old described the time of the incident as one of the darkest times in his life.
“I was f***ed up — I mean, I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” he said.
Furthermore, Diddy noted that he was disgusted by his actions then and now.
“I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry,” he concluded.
Although Diddy appeared genuine in the video, many didn’t buy the record producer’s apology, one of whom was 50 Cent. Taking to his Instagram page, the G-Unit founder shared his thoughts on the clip. 50 Cent reposted Diddy’s apology video alongside the caption:
“👀This is not going to work, who is advising him right now? SMH bad move.”
Hours later, the actor shared more of his thoughts on the issue. He posted a screenshot of Cassie’s response to Diddy’s apology, in which she revealed that her ex-boyfriend was only compelled to apologize. In the post’s caption, 50 Cent, who plans to make a Diddy documentary, said he understood how Cassie felt about Diddy apologizing to everyone but refusing to address her after the assault video got out.
“It makes it feel like he wasn’t thinking of how she felt having to see it. SMH where is his crisis management PR team? That was a bad move 😳,” he wrote.
Fans couldn’t agree any more with the post, noting that 50 Cent was being very serious for the first time. Time will tell how Diddy deals with his latest setback, as his apology isn’t making much difference.
