We all tend to fall victim to recommendations we see online, and while some are good, a few can be questionable. Still, some people decide to believe them, especially when they come from a “reputable” source. However, no one expects that some of these recommendations will end up making them sick, which is what happened in Idaho. Apparently, RFK Jr. told people that drinking raw milk was a good idea. Now, at least 60 people in Idaho have reportedly fallen ill after consuming it, with some cases proving more serious than others. As news of the outbreak spread, many residents were quick to point the finger at the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The original report comes by way of The Mirror, which talks about how RFK Jr. talked about the “benefits” of drinking raw milk. Some people decided to follow this recommendation, only to fall ill after doing so.
So far, 60 people have reportedly fallen ill, with at least 45 testing positive for Campylobacteriosis. According to health officials, investigators have identified two possible sources linked to the outbreak, both of which are located in Idaho.
While the true origin of this outbreak is unknown, some believe that the consumption of raw milk has played an important role, which is something that the current Secretary of Health and Human Services, RFK Jr., has been pushing.
According to several Redditors who saw this, it is quite alarming, as there’s a proper pasteurization process that could prevent sickness stemming from drinking raw milk. Yet, some people still believe that it is safe for human consumption.
Idaho Redditors Blame RFK Jr. For Recent Outbreak
Since RFK Jr. has been the one pushing for more raw milk consumption across the country, several people have started pointing their fingers toward the Secretary, as it seems the outbreak is closely tied to the aforementioned drink.
With that in mind, Redditors shared their criticism online, talking about how it is a bad idea and how no one should listen to RFK Jr. on this matter.
“If only there were a way to prevent raw milk illnesses.“
On the other hand, many didn’t show empathy for those who believed this, saying that they were likely MAGA members who followed the recommendation.
“At what point does being MAGA just automatically make you mentally ill? Because these people need cognitive help.“
“Doesn’t hurt me, let them suffer for their decisions. It’s their choice.“
While some commenters argued that people knowingly took the risk, others felt the outbreak could have been avoided altogether, particularly if fewer people had been persuaded by RFK Jr.’s support for raw milk.
