Idaho Woman Chews Out Man for His ‘Total Lack of Decency’ on Delta Flight: ‘He’s One of Those Animals’

Was it right of her to call him out?

After getting off a Delta flight at Seattle, a woman from Idaho claims she confronted another passenger for his “total lack of decency in public.” Posting her story to r/delta, GalfromIdaho explained that a man sitting next to her took chewed-up gum and put it into the seat pocket before debarking. “I hurried my butt up the jet bridge and told him how beyond rude I thought what he did was,” she wrote, and thousands of Redditors were in agreement.

“Was it a weird power thing, or do you think he just did it without thinking?” GalfromIdaho questioned those reading her post. In response to someone criticizing her for not keeping to her own business, she responded that she heard the intercom say, “If you see something, say something,” making it her duty to chase down the culprit for what he did.

Many Praised the Woman for Calling the Delta Passenger Out

And hundreds felt the same: she did what was right and deserved praise for chewing the man out. “Insane that someone can think that behavior is acceptable,” remarked a commenter. “You did the right thing,” said a second. “I like you said something to that bum. He’s one of those animals raised by animals,” agreed a third.

Dozens of others shared a similar desire to put inconsiderate people on the spot for their behavior. Some complained that if men like the Delta passenger aren’t called out, they’ll never stop causing trouble for others, like making planes dirty or leaving trash for others to clean up. “It’s incredibly powerful to say something about little transgressions. Sometimes the calmer you are, the more unnerving it can be,” wrote a Redditor.

Later on, GalfromIdaho recalled how she met the same gum-chewing man on a train, but he avoided her “gaze like the plague,” implying he knew he had made a mistake. Unfortunately, not everyone who is confronted over their wrongdoing will react so neutrally, as one passenger aboard a United Airlines shared a nightmarish experience with an aggressive parent who changed their baby’s diaper in the cabin.

In the end, though, the majority of users who reacted to GalfromIdaho’s post believe it’s others’ duty to confront wrongdoers for their actions, claiming it’s the only way to make a change.
