When Debbie Aguero, 67, and Oussama, 24, were introduced to fans during the premiere of season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, there was some apprehension about their relationship primarily due to the 43-year-age gap between them. Most fans felt they were an apparent mismatch due to the wide age gap.
To everyone’s surprise, the two hit the ground running and quickly blew fans away with their endearing love story. Unlike some of the other couples featured on the show, Debbie and Oussama were a joy to watch. Before long, most fans were rooting for them to have a happy ending.
90 Day Fiancé Debbie and Oussama’s Relationship Issues
Sadly, some red flags appeared in their relationship as the season progressed. While Debbie looked committed to living in Morocco with Ousamma, the young man didn’t. However, during a recent episode, Ousamma finally revealed his true intentions.
The 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way demanded a US trip from Debbie. According to Ousamma, he wanted to follow her back to the US and sell his artworks. His request was a shock despite knowing her trip to North Africa was supposed to be permanent. Things eventually reached a breaking point when Oussama gave Debbie a make-or-break request to take him to the US or end their relationship.
Debbie remained defiant and refused to be railroaded by Oussama, accusing Oussama of trying to use her to get a green card. Although Debbie left Oussama’s family home and checked into a hotel, she wasn’t sure about the road forward. She then told TLC cameras,
“I’m mourning the loss of my best friend. Now it’s like, Debbie, just stop. Leave. Go home. But I don’t know if I’m ready to do that. I miss my buddy, you know? It wasn’t about a physical relationship that I miss the most; I miss my friend.”
The couple’s relationship might have ended with Debbie’s insistence not to give in and Ousamma’s visa demands. However, while Ousamma has earned huge criticisms after the recent events, 90 Day Fiancé star Debbie is also not a saint.
90 Day Fiancé’s Oussama Is Too Young For Debbie
Over the years, the 90 Day Fiancé franchise has featured several couples with significant age gaps, and most of those relationships ended disastrously. Still, Debbie and Oussama immediately caught the attention of fans as the couple with the biggest age gap in the franchise’s history.
From the beginning, their relationship raised many eyebrows, and one of the most vocal critics of the duo’s romance was Debbie’s son, Julian. The protective son feared that his mom was too old for Ousamma. Besides their love for art and poems, the pair showed no other deep connection. The couple also showed no physical attraction towards one another on the show.
All these signs point to their being far apart in life experiences. Besides having different belief systems and cultures, age would always be a stumbling block for the couple. While 90 Day Fiancé star Debbie is at the twilight of her life, Oussama is only starting his life. A healthy relationship between the two would benefit Debbie the most and rob Oussama of his youth, which is classic predatory behavior.
Debbie Was Warned This Would Happen
When Debbie informed her children of her decision to relocate to Morocco, they vehemently kicked against it. They warned that her relationship with her younger lover wouldn’t go as smoothly as she had hoped. Her son Julian was the most vocal critic of her romance with Oussama. He even labeled it a “horrible decision” during a confessional before her trip to Morocco. He said,
“She’s not thinking like a normal person. She’s so infatuated with this fairy tale and someone loving her and showing her attention that she’s willing to go around the world to get it.”
Debbie’s daughter Sandy might not have been as vocal as Julian, but she didn’t support her mom’s decision. As Debbie made her way to the airport, Sandy echoed her brother’s sentiments during a phone conversation with her mom. However, Sandy had made peace with the fact that Debbie would inevitably go ahead with her decision despite her children’s advice.
Debbie was adamant that she was making the right decision and felt disappointed that her children didn’t have more faith in her choices. She was excited about her future with Oussama and looked forward to having her happily ever after. Sadly, as things turned out, Debbie should have had more faith in her children’s sense of discernment.
Although Oussama’s sudden change in behavior and make-or-break ultimatum stunned Debbie, 90 Day Fiancé fans have accused the 67-year-old of being delusional. They feel she should have seen the handwriting on the wall. Even now, Debbie is still angling toward fixing things with Oussama, and the show’s viewers agree that she is only setting herself up for a more significant disappointment.
