While Toy Story 4 hasn’t seen its official release yet, the hype is real. If the early indication is anything to go on, we are in for an absolute treat. You’ll know for sure when you read our definitive review, however, in the meantime, we can use Rotten Tomatoes as an early benchmark. It makes for good reading. At the time of writing and after 65 votes, the score for Toy Story 4 is 100% fresh and you can’t get much better than that.

Toy Story

As I’ve said, wait for our review before you make your minds up. For now, take a look at the movie synopsis:

Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.

It’s been too long since we’ve had a Toy Story film, Toy Story 3 came out way back in 2010, but from the sounds of things, it seems more than worth the wait. The early scores seem good, the synopsis seems full of promise and emotion, and even Mr. Potato head got to return.

Toy Story 4 releases in theaters on the 21st, so there’s not too long to wait for us mere mortals. Let us know in the comments how excited you are for this long-awaited sequel.
