This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information.

Alongside the announcement of the new Nintendo Switch Lite came news of a Pokemon Sword and Shield edition to be coming out the next weeks after. The new Nintendo Switch Lite is set to be released this September at $199.99 USD. A few weeks after this release comes the Pokemon edition of the Switch Lite. This edition comes in all light grey with cyan and magenta buttons and joysticks. Just like with the Nintendo Switch Lites, this edition will not have a way for it to be connected to the TV or removable Joycons. The Pokemon edition of the Switch Lite includes on the back, an outlined version of the two new mythological Pokemon. These outlines represent Zacian and Zamazenta, the sword and shield Pokemon. This edition of the Switch Lite will not come with its own copy of the Pokemon Sword or Shield game as it is currently listed. This is unfortunately not a bundled console set as of yet. The official release date of the Pokemon Sword and Shield Nintendo Switch Lite is November 8, 2019. That will be one week before the official release of the game on November 15. This edition of the game will be available for the same price as the normal Switch Lites for $199.99 USD.

This edition of Nintendo Switch Lite is very much for the Pokemon fan. Especially if you’re a fan of the new generation of legendaries. Much like with the original Nintendo Switch Lite, this edition will not be for the hardcore gamers as it cannot connect to any larger TV or monitor due to not having a docking station. The gamer Nintendo is more than likely targeting here is one who misses the more elaborate games on the go. Mobile gamers wanting more demanding and challenging games to play on the go. Nintendo did state the Nintendo Switch Lite consoles will be able to play all the games they have in the library with some restrictions. Let us know down in the comments below or on our socials what you think about this new edition! Will you be the first ones to pick one up? Let us know!
