It all started with a tweet . . .

24 hours later, via the official website, Fallout 4 has been revealed. Actually, when the countdown ended I was left staring at the “Please Stand By” screen, but moving over to Bethesda’s YouTube channel gave me access to the trailer. (Update: the reveal site now shows the video.)

Many are calling Fallout 4 the worst kept secret, but honestly, who cares? The three minute trailer looks incredible.

The countdown clock pans away to reveal a house in shambles, which shifts from its torn state back to a pristine, living home where parents are watching over their baby and a droid hovers around the house servicing them. An announcer on the radio reveals that they’re on the brink of war, and a nuclear attack is coming. In the torn, desolate home post-war, we see a sole dog making his way through the home, no signs of life within it.

The next two minutes are a collection of images back and forth between the land as it was and now is. We’re shown vault 111 and our character emerging from it, but we also see people fleeing their homes to make their way to shelter. So that begs the question – where does the game start? Will we get a chance to play through the apocalypse that sends mankind down into the safety of the vaults?

We’re shown many scenes of the world after the fallout, the cities that are built from the destruction, the beasts that roam the land, and airships! That in itself is exciting. At the end of the trailer, we’re shown the standard fallout armor suit, followed by a man, our character most likely, with a rifle and a wrist-band computer, walking up to the dog and saying, “Let’s go pal.”

A full reveal will be shown at E3 on June 14th at 7pm PST during the Bethesda press conference. No consoles were announced in the video, but via the game’s official website you can see that the pre-orders will soon be available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

What did you think of the reveal trailer? Are you excited to get back into the world of Fallout? Leave your comments below and stay tuned for more information on all things Fallout 4.
