Another month has gone by, and with August almost over, September’s PlayStation Plus lineup has finally been announced. As a quick recap, last month we had Sniper Elite 4 and WipEout: Omega Collection. Two very worthy additions to anyone’s library, with single-player, multiplayer, and co-operative options. September has a similarly fantastic line-up, though with slightly less variety in the ways you can play. So what are they?
Batman: Arkham Knight
This month it seems that PlayStation is giving us more of a single-player experience when it comes to free games. Rocksteady Studio’s 2015 Batman game (fourth in the Arkham series) is a purely single-player open-world adventure where you can glide across high rise buildings and beat-up enemy goons. Much like 2017’s Spider-Man, in Batman: Arkham Knight you play as a seemingly invincible superhero taking on hordes of bad guys in an attempt to keep your city safe. Though, unlike Spider-Man, you can expect a far darker setting and tone, since it is set in the DC universe. As the fourth in the Arkham series, expect plenty of fast-paced combat with a decent story alongside it. All in all, it’s more than enough to keep PS Plus subscribers occupied when school starts again. But as usual, that isn’t where it ends.
Darksider’s III
This month we are single-player game heavy. And that certainly isn’t a bad thing for those who want to lose themselves in a good story right before Summer ends. Darksider’s III, like Batman: Arkham Knight, is a sequel to a long-running line of single-player games. And with practice comes much experience, which is why Darksider’s III is a generally good addition to this month’s lineup. Unlike Arkham Knight, Darksider’s III takes a fairly simplistic approach to its single-player experience. Without any open-world, it takes on a much more linear narrative, with the simplicity of destroying foes, but also more complex, puzzle-like boss fights. It’s another welcome game to PS Plus subscribers’ libraries.
PlayStation Plus September 2019 = Another Good Month
Although its a lot less varied compared to August where we had single-player, co-op, multiplayer and VR mixed games. This month we have two great, and also very different, single-player games in both style and story.
