Reggie Fils-Aime: The Legend
Reggie Fils-Aime first joined Nintendo as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing on December 2003. He came to people’s attention during the E3 conference of 2004. Taking the stage and delivering a powerful speech, Reggie revived interest in what was seen as a dark and declining time for Nintendo. After three years with the company, Fils-Aime became the president of Nintendo of America in May 2006. His promotion came in the wake of his predecessor’s departure.
Reggie Fils-Aime is a savant when it comes to marketing towards new and old gamers alike. He constantly came out and engaged the public during his time with Nintendo. Reggie is famous for changing Nintendo’s image in North America. Nicknamed the “Regginator” for his aggressive strategies, he helped to keep Nintendo a relevant name in gaming. Now, Reggie Fils-Aime will receive the greatest honor in the video game industry. Though he was not present at the induction ceremony, the Regginator conveyed his feelings in a short video. In addition, two Nintendo classics were inducted in the 2019 International Video Game Hall of Fame group, Super Mario 64 and Super Smash Bros Melee.
Ever since leaving Nintendo, Reggie Fils-Aime has become a Leader in Residence at Cornell University. He is also on the board of directors for the New York Videogame Critics Circle. Even in retirement from his crucial role as president, the Regginator continues to inspire and lead the next generation.
