BioShock: The Collection for the Nintendo Switch may have just leaked. The Taiwanese ratings board has listed a rating the collection for Switch. There are also ratings for each individual game. This could mean that each game will be available to purchase individually as well as together.
Each title is rated “R” (our “M for Mature”) for violence, inappropriate speech, and alcohol & tobacco use. The ratings board lists no price or release date yet.
The first BioShock released in 2007 to near-universal acclaim. It follows a mute protagonist trapped in the corrupt, underwater city of Rapture. Players use a variety of guns and power-granting tonics to survive. A sequel set in different sections of Rapture released in 2010. This time, players controlled a Big Daddy, an intimidating foe from the first game. BioShock Infiniteย released in 2013 and took place in Columbia, a city above the clouds. Players controlled a down-on-his-luck detective tracking a missing girl who possesses reality-altering abilities. The collection released in 2016.
BioShock is one of the most popular single-player FPS franchises of the modern era. And the Switch has become a home for past incredible titles that Nintendo fans may have missed out on. So this leak is definitely believable and understandable. Re-releases of huge games like The Witcher 3: Wild Huntย andย Skyrim have been embraced.
This wouldn’t be the first time a Switch port has leaked before a reveal. Just last year, more than one source leaked Overwatch right before its unveiling in September. And there hasn’t been another big Direct since. There have been smaller ones, such as a Pokemon-centric video earlier this month and one focusing on Nindies in December. But rumors about a larger, broader Direct have been circulating recently.
It’s possible that Taiwan’s rating board jumped the gun, putting up their ratings before a Direct’s release. Perhaps we’ll get an official reveal soon. This port could help to bring in new players while a new entryย in the BioShock series is worked on. But only time will tell if and when we’ll be able to play these on the go.
