The sequel to the musical fan favorite has arrived, fully remastered for players new and old. Patapon 2 Remastered launches onto the PlayStation Store January 30, with remastered 4K graphics.

Patapon and Patapon 2 first released on the PlayStation Portable, and since have become cult classics for their charming style and music. The first Patapon was remastered and released last year, so it makes sense that Sony would also update the second game.

In Patapon, you control a group of Patapons and fight enemies through rhythmic combat. You must attack enemies to the beat of the music, which the second game expands upon and more.  At its core, Patapon relies on following the beat of the music to attack enemies.  As you chain beats, your attacks become stronger.

Patapon 2 raises the stakes in a multitude of ways. In addition to new enemies and different ways to play, you can also customize your Patapon army as you progress.  For example, each Patapon can be fitted with different weapons and armor and positioned in the battle for maximum effectiveness.

The game contains over 30 different levels ranging in content, whether that is escorting an ally or engaging in intense boss battles, Patapon 2 has a multitude of content to dig into.

Patapon 2 Gets New 4K Remaster

While the original Patapon games already looked nice on the PSP, the remastered versions of both games bring the visuals up a notch. The 4K updates make the art pop on-screen and are a fantastic way for a new or old fan to get in on the fun.

Sony has done a considerable job bringing back the shining stars of the PSP to modern consoles, including remastered versions of platformer LocoRoco.

Patapon 2 Remastered will release on the PlayStation Store on January 30 for $14.99. Those who are looking to jump into the music action for the first time can play the Patapon Remastered now.
