HBO Max is in the early stages of developing the biker gang-centric story
Throttle, was first published in 2009 as a short story titled, He Is Legend, honoring Richard Matheson, whose short story โDuelโ served as inspiration for the story of Throttleย followed by a comic book adaptation from IDW Publishing in 2012.
The story follows a father and son led biker gang who get terrorized by a big rig truck on an isolated stretch of the American desert.
Leigh Dana Jackson, who is currently executive producingย The Spook Who Sat By The Door series for FXย and was the co-executive producer of Netflix series Raising Dion,ย will write the screenplay for thisย new projectย on HBO Max.
The adaption will be produced by David S. Goyerย ( Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Terminator: Dark Fate)ย and Keith Levine through his Phantom Four label, the company behind the upcoming Keri Russell horror pic, Antlers. That film is set to hit theatres later this year. Antlers was due out earlier this year but delayed by the global pandemic.
Hill, who is a New York Times bestselling author of The Firemanย andย Strange Weather has seen his own projects find their share of adaptations in the TV and feature-film world ; with his second novel Hornsย adapted to the big screen with Daniel Radcliffe starring. Hill’s vampire psycho-thriller NOS4A2, was adapted into a TV series on AMC with an upcoming second season this June. His bestselling comic series Locke & Key, as well asย In The Tall Grass, which he co-wrote with King have been adapted into a Netflix series and a standalone Netflix movie, respectively.
