The teaser features a similar setting to the original Angry Birds game, with pigs oinking, birds scouting and a familiar score. Although details about Angry Birds 2 are mostly unclear, it will likely continue the same game play of the original game where birds are tossed through a slingshot, but with potential improvements in regards to graphics, sounds, and mechanics. As tweeted by Rovio, the developer of the game, it will be “bigger, badder and birdier.”
Released initially in 2009 as a smart phone application, Angry Birds has spawned a number of games for personal computers and gaming consoles as well as spin-offs and television series based on the franchise. Rovio has also expanded its offering to toys and other apparel to keep the game appealing. An animated feature film of the same name is also in-development with Sony Pictures.
It will be interesting to see how many people download the game on it release date. Although Angry Birds is probably the most well known application game, the market is much more saturated then its initial 2009 release. The new title will only be made available on Apple and Android devices, the Windows Store reportedly not supported. Details about the game will reportedly be announced on July 28th, during its unveiling. It is slated to be released for the App store on July 30th.
