A new Marvel’s Avengers leak might have spilled the beans on more playable characters coming to the game eventually. ComicBook found now-deleted artwork that hints at The Inhumans arriving in the future.

Senior UI artist Rick Stadler released a piece of art for the game, before quickly pulling it back. He didn’t pull it back fast enough though. Twitter user @mmmmmmmmiller embedded the picture in a tweet.

The user pointed out some of the art pointed to characters we already knew about. Black Panther and War Machine have long been rumored to be future arrivals. It was the artwork that showed a military faction and another that depicts The Inhumans that caught people’s attention.

The moon’s own royal family coming to Marvel’s Avengers make quite a bit of sense. Earthbound Inhumans play a central role in the campaign. Ms. Marvel is in fact, one of those having been given her powers on “A-Day.”

In the comics, Ms. Marvel is linked to the royal family as well. Early on in one run, Lockjaw is sent to her as a kind of protector. He doubles as a messenger from Black Bolt and Medusa. However, there isn’t any mention of that group in the game so far. Not even a hint in the current storyline.

Square Enix’s only confirmed future playable characters are Spider-Man (a PS4/PS5 exclusive), Hawkeye, and Kate Bishop. During the last showcase before the game’s release, Square made a point of saying they had something planned for Black Panther but chose to delay it. The showcase took place just days after the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

No Release Dates Announced For New Marvel’s Avengers Characters

The company didn’t want to overshadow the memorials that were still pouring in for the actor who played T’Challa on the big screen. For now, fans will just have to wait and see if the latest leak spurs Square Enix to confirm additional playable characters. Indeed, we still don’t know when those confirmed as “coming soon” are slated to arrive.
