Apex Legends has cemented itself as one of the higher-regarded battle royales of the current year. Hell, I still play it from time to time. Nothing beats a good Titanfall game, and the way that game’s mechanics were implemented into Apex is something I thoroughly enjoy. Not only that, but the game receives frequent updates and events that shake things up. There’s an upcoming event known as The Aftermarket Collection which brings that, but something quite substantial as well. Apex Legends is finally getting the announced cross-play feature, going into open beta on October 6. You can check the event’s trailer below.

Cross-play is a major factor in battle royales like Fortnite and Spellbreak, so it’s good to see Apex Legends finally joining the party. This is starting with the beta, looking to stress test the feature and figure out what needs fixing. You’ll have access to the full list of features, including the ability to friend players on other platforms. You can do this by searching up your friend’s name in the Friends menu, then selecting your friend on their platform of choice. From there, you can send invites to each other and play a match, working your way up to Apex Champion.

It’s a great feature, accompanied by a good event as well. The Aftermarket Collection event for Apex Legends brings fresh cosmetics, free items for playing, and a limited-time mode (LTM). This event’s LTM is known as Flashpoint and changes the way you think when planning your next move. Massive zones around the map are designated as Flash Points and give healing and shields to those within its area. You’ll have to take advantage of these though, as healing doesn’t drop in this mode. With the lack of items to give you that extra boost, you’ll have to stay in the Flash Points to have a higher chance of survival.

All of this is sure to provide something fresh for players of Apex Legends, in and beyond the course of the event. Now, I want to hear your thoughts on cross-play and the limited-time mode. Will you be dashing between Flash Points and destroying other squads? Any friends on other platforms you’re excited to play with? Tell me in the comments!
